Eden’s Semilla Vitamin E Oil Review

LINKS // Eden’s Semilla Vitamin E Oil | 120ml | £12.95 | Amazon

So as of late I’ve been really interested in using more natural products on my skin. After finding out the facial scrub I use is unfortunately tested on animals I decided to branch out and to try and find to find a more natural and of course cruelty free scrub. Whilst searching I was thrown into the world of oils. It turns out there’s a lot of different oils in the world, Lavender, Coconut, Argan, Sunflower, Rose, Raspberry, Almond. Even Cucumber. It all seemed very confusing so I picked a few different ones and tried them out and I intend to review each one in upcoming posts. Whilst I was in my search Eden’s Semilla were generous enough to send me a bottle of their Eden’s Semilla Vitamin E Oil in return for a review. Of course I said yes, how could I not? I’m going through a big oil craze and a lovely company offers to send me a bottle? Couldn’t have come at a better time.

First I want to say I don’t have amazon prime but I received this the morning after I placed my order. Which is just amazing because there’s nothing worse than having to wait around for an amazon order. My first thing I noticed about this product before I had even tried it, was how little packaging it came with. I received a small box, containing the oil and a plastic bag with the dropper inside and this was the only packaging. I love it when companies have very minimal packaging, as lots of complicated ties, boxes and bags are bad for the environment, unnecessarily and just not good in general. The box the oil comes in is yellow with white and gold font and has a small picture on the front showing all the different ingredients involved in the product.

My first impression of the oil itself is that I really hate the smell. But you never judge a product but it’s smell, as someone amazing products smell terrible and some awful products smell fantastic. Saying that the product itself doesn’t feel like oil, it’s so light weight and silky it basically feels like water. I applied this on my face morning and night for two weeks and compared to other oils I’ve used in the past, it doesn’t feel thick or suffocating. It takes a while to set but when it finally does your skin feels very soft and smooth. After two weeks of daily use I will say my skin does feel a lot more hydrated and moisturised. Because I have very dry skin it’s rare my face feels hydrated, so if you’ve got dry skin and find it hard to get moisture on your face like me, you’re really going to want to check this out.

I’m pleased to say this product contains 100% natural ingredients and has the leaping bunny certificate, so we know no bunnies died to make this. The ingredients are: 100% naturally sourced Vitamin E (Safflower / Wheatgerm / Sunflower / Sweet Almond / Apricot / Avocado) Organic Jojoba and Rosehip Oil. Let’s take a look at these ingredients in detail:

  • Rosehip oil – Is full of vitamins and antioxidants, is good for getting rid of dark spots, reducing redness, scars and being hydrating for dry and/or itchy skin.
  • Organic Jojoba – Is the only oil that resembles our natural oils, works as a natural moisturizer and combats facial scarring and facial lines.
  • Safflower oil – Acts as a natural lubricant that prevents water from leaving your skin and locks in moisture for glowing fresh, soft skin.
  • Wheatgerm oil – Improves circulation to the skin and the hair, helps hydrate dry or itchy skin.
  • Sunflower oil –  Improves skin health, regenerates cells, reduces scars and gives the skin a healthy glow.
  • Sweet Almond oil – Protects against UV radiation damage, cleans pores, softens skin and battles dark circles.
  • Apricot oil – Is anti-aging, soothes irritated skin and works as a natural moisturizer.
  • Avocado oil – Prevents inflammations, redness and itchiness, is an affect treatment for acne and blackheads.  Is beneficial in diminishing age spots and smoothing out fine lines and wrinkles.

All great natural ingredients that have amazing benefits for the skin.

If you’re new to oils, I’d say start with coconut oil or argan oil for you hair and Vitamin E oil for your skin. I’ve use all three and all three are amazing. I’m going to keep using this Vitamin E oil as it’s making my skin feel so nice and will probably continue to purchase more natural oils in the future.

Vitamin E Moisture Cream

Moisture Cream

I’ve been using the moisture cream for a while now. I really love the Vitamin E products by The Body Shop in general and after talking to the lovely lady in the shop about my skin type and what I need a product she recommended this.

Now this has now changed packaging, but the picture shown above is the one I currently have. It’s a small 50ml pink tub with a black lid. With everything in The Body Shop it’s simple packaging, not that interesting but again simple and convenient. It’s so tiny so it doesn’t take a lot of room up in your back and also it’s also under the 100ml limit for flying which means if you’re traveling you can take it with you in your carry on. The product itself is a very light pink cream that smells quite sweet. It has a very watery texture and sometimes I do find it a little bit runny, but it’s not so bad as this does mean a little goes a long way.  Now this is for combination skin, which I have. My skin is very oily under my eyes and on the very very top of my forehead right by my waterline, but the skin on and around my nose and on my lower forehead is very dry. Because of this I have to moisturizer a lot. I find this cream helps a lot because it really helps to keep the dry skin from staying too dry. It has a very light weight formula that absorbs easily to give you a healthy looking complexion.

This is amazing, it’s so creamy and soft, it keeps your skin from going dry but it keep it staying soft. The only downsides are I think £12.00 is a little bit too much money for a tiny 50ml tub, the fact the mixture is very runny so if you accidentally knock over the tub, you will loose a lot of product and also the fact this takes a long time to dry, so if you’re putting this on before primer and makeup you have to do it at least 10 minutes before. Apart from those things, which really don’t even matter as it’s just me being a picky ass bitch, I’d really recommend this cream, especially if you’ve got dry skin.

Superdrug Vitamin E Gentle Oatmeal Exfoliator

Scrub 1

LINK // Vitamin E Gentle Oatmeal Exfoliator | Superdrug | £2.99

So I recently learned I needed to Exfoliate weekly. I’d never really been sure what exfoliating was until someone told me scrubbing your face with a gentle scrub should work. Exfoliators remove dead skin and leave your face feeling fresh and clean. I picked up this one from Superdrug for £2.99. The bottle says it’s an oatmeal exfoliator (porridge exfoliator if you’re British like me) and it really does have the texture, smell and feel of oatmeal. At first I was a little bit, freaked out about rubbing an oatmeal like mixture on my face, as I thought it would kinda feel like you’d just missed your mouth a hundred times whilst eating breakfast. And whilst yes it does feel like you’re rubbing cold porridge on your face it really helps to polish away old skin and make my face feel really sort and clean. It also smells really good and according to the bottle it’s Vegan and has the special bunny icon that tells us there’s no animal testing involved.

My only problem is the texture which really does feel like cold porridge but really that’s me being picky than an actual fault with the product. Apart from that this product is a solid 9/10!

The Body Shop Vitamin E Eye Cube Review

Eye Cube

LINK // Vitamin E Eye Cube | The Body Shop | £9.00

I’ve been using this eye cube since I think January now. It’s basically a solid eye cream but not as heavy as a normal eye cream. It comes in a handy tube that you twist you push up and it reminds me a lot of a lip balm, except obviously not as sticky. Twice a day, everyday before moisturizing I apply the eye cube around my eye area by gently smearing it under my eye, on my eye lid and around the corner of my eyes, I do this twice, sometimes 3 times if my skin is feeling particularity bad that day and then a rub it in with my fingers to make sure I get every area covered.

The cube itself does a great job making my skin feel soft but I also find it really brightens that area as well and it also tends to make me feel more awake. At first the cube idea kind of worried me as a solid version of anything I’m usually not a fan off (soaps, moisturizers, shampoos etc.) because I was worried they may get dirty from constant use. However since using this eye cube I’ve had no trouble with it getting dirty and apart from the odd eyelash stuck on the end it stays pretty clean.

This is also not scented so it’s great if you’ve got sensitive skin around you eye area as there’s no fear that you may just damage it more. I also want to note I’ve had this January and have yet to get through half of it and I’ve been applying it almost every single day so it does last a long time, longer than most eye creams I would say. The fact it’s solid also means you can take it on a plane with you, but it’s also really small so it wouldn’t take up too much room. I think taking this on a long haul flight could be handy as applying throughout would not only stop your eyes going dry but it’d really freshen up your face and make you feel relaxed, which lets me honest is an emotion you need to feel on a plane.

Overall I’d give this a solid 10/10. It’s an amazing product that makes my skin and eyes feel great, it’s small and a convenient size for travel and overall does the job it’s supposed to without any faults, which is exactly what I was looking for.

Body Shop Seaweed Clarifying Toner

LINK // Toner – The Body Shop – £10.00

I recently repurchased the Seaweed Clarifying Toner from The Body Shop. I’ve had it before and loved it so much I didn’t even look at other products before rebuying it. This product used to be £8.00 pounds I think but they recently changed the packaging and changed the price of the product to £10.00. I was told in the shop it’s also a bigger bottle this time which is why it’s gone up by £2.00. I don’t mind though because this product is so amazing it’s definite worth the price.

The toner itself is a very light liquid mixture, it has the texture and feel of water and feels very light but silky on the skin. I apply this by squirting a little onto a cotton pad and rubbing it across my face after cleansing. It feels so nice and is really refreshing. It removes all traces of cleanser and any makeup left on my place and leaves me feeling really refreshed. I sometimes sweep some of this across my face in the morning if my skin is feeling extra tired or stressed because it really does just wake up my skin and leave it feeling soft and silky all day.

Like I said they recently changed the packaging for this product, and whilst the new packaging is very nice I have one fault and that is the bottle itself. The old bottle was just a tall tube shape and then a lid whereas this has a large tube for the base and then a long neck. My problem is because you squeeze the larger part of the toner it can be very easy to squirt too much our too fast and completely soak the cotton pad and your bathroom floor. But that’s really more of an issue with me being an idiot than the product itself.

I would 100% recommend this product. It works wonders for my skin, leaves me feeling amazing and refreshed and I was definitely continue to re purchase this forever.

Thanks for reading and I hope you have a wonderful day.

Baylis & Harding Sweet Mandarin & Grapefruit Christmas Crackers Review

DSCF2782 DSCF2781DSCF2785DSCF2787

I received this really pretty gift set for Christmas. At first I was really confused because I thought it was just a box of Christmas crackers, however inside each crack was a small bottle of product from a brand I’d never heard of before called Baylis & Harding.  Each product came in a beautiful white and gold sparkly cracker, that you could either open like a normal cracker (by pulling both ends) or just unwrap normally. In order to preserve the beautiful packaging I stuck to just undoing the ends and sliding the products out. Because I’m picky like that and I like pretty packaging.

The products themselves… aren’t the greatest. The gift set came with two bottles of ‘balancing body wash’ and ‘moisturizing body lotion’. First off both the bottle are really small and pretty, one is white with a gold lid and design and the other is clear with a gold lid and design. The latter reminds me of one of those little ‘drink me’ bottles from Alice in Wonderland. Now these products are supposed to smell like sweet mandarin & grapefruit. Now to me it does smell slightly like mandarin. It’s got a very citrus like smell to it. To be honest it reminds me of those sweets you get that are covered in sugar and look like fruit. It’s quite a strong sickly sweet smell, and I’m someone who does not ever find smells too sweet.

I’ve tried out both these products and I’ve I’m honest I’ve not been that impressed. The body wash, which comes in a tiny 30ml bottle is a thick gold liquid. It doesn’t lather very well and the smell doesn’t last very long at all. After showering the smell was immediately gone from my skin. I felt the same with the moisturizer. The scent didn’t last very long after applying and my skin didn’t feel moisturized after, in fact it felt more dry.

So overall these products aren’t good at all. It might just me being picky and annoying, but apart from the really pretty packaging I was just really disappointed with these products and I think I’ll stick to my body shop shower gels from now on.

The Body Shop Strawberry Treats Cube Gift Set Review

I received this cute little ‘Strawberry treats’ gift set for Christmas and thought I would post a little review. This is just a simple little cute gift set. I received this for Christmas and I believe it’s a season exclusive as I can no longer find the product in the online store, but from searching I can see this was around 10 pounds.

Anyway this product is simply just a little red and white stripey box which contains one of those red bath scrunchie things (not sure what they’re actually called, but hopefully you know what I mean) and two bottles. One contains Strawberry shower gel which is a thick red gel that smells exactly like strawberry lace sweets and the other is Strawberry body puree which smells like strawberries and cream.

I’ve been using these products a lot and I absolutely adore them. The shower gel lather’s so well and smells so good, exactly like strawberry laces which really makes me want to eat it. The body puree is so soft and creamy and makes my skin feel amazing whilst making me smell amazing. The bottles are of course quite small which is the only downside to this product as apart from that they are amazing. I would definitely recommend them.

Basic guide to Skin Care + My current skin care routine

3e2aa83dc58cec6a7779c5ce45417973So I am no way at all an expert in skin care, but I happen to have quite clear skin. I get spots like everyone, but they’re usually small and don’t last very long. I used to get a lot of spots, but since taking care of my skin more it’s totally cleared up. I’ve had friends asks how my skin is so clear and I’ve both listed out my entire skincare routine and I’ve also just shrugged and said ‘I just drink a lot of water’ (which is true). So here we go, a lovely little post on my skincare routine and my tips of skin care. (That might’ve been the worst intro I’ve ever written, I’m such a great blogger)

DSCF4184So I have two separate skincare routines, one for the morning and one for the evening. They generally stay the same with my evening routine only usually changing depending on whether I wore makeup that day or not. I generally buy most of my skincare products from the body shop because I like how helpful they are in there. They always help me get the right products for my skin type (oily) and their products are just great in general.

So the most important steps you should have in your skincare routine are cleansing, toning and moisturizing.

1) Cleanser  – So if you’ve been wearing makeup that day you want to start of with a cleanser. Now up until about a year ago I always used makeup wipes to take off my makeup but then I learned how terrible they are for your skin. Basically when you use a makeup wipe, no matter how much makeup comes off on the wipe you’re actually pushing the dirt around your face. You can have the most expensive/amazing moisturizer and serum ever but you’ll just be applying it on top of the dirt that’s already on your face. So I’ve used two cleansers, first off was the vitamin E cream cleanser which didn’t really work for me at all and then I tried the Camomile Silky Cleaning Oil. I use this oil everyday to take off my makeup and it’s honestly amazing. At first I was a little meh at putting oil on my makeup and smudging it around my face but now I’ve gotten so used to it and the oil is actually really relaxing and moisturizing. It works so quickly and efficiently and really gets every little bit of makeup up. Of course there’s hundreds of cleansers out there and it all depends on your skin type whether something will work for you or not, so I’d recommend going into the body shop or any skincare shop and asking an expert or if the thought of that makes you way too anxious you can take an online test instead.

2) Toner – After cleaning you should always use a toner. Now I didn’t know what a toner was for a really long time, simply because I didn’t know I needed one. So I cleansed and went straight to moisturizing. Only in the last 6 or so months have I been using a toner. The toner I use is the body shop seaweed clarifying toner which just works wonders for me, so much so it’s the only one I’ve ever used and so far I’ve never felt compelled to change. I apply my toner with a cotton pad, after cleansing but before washing my face and it’s helps remove all traces of makeup that may still be left, all traces of the cleanser that may still be on my face, plus a whole other load of dirt I didn’t even know was on my face. Toners help shrink the appearance of pores, remove dead skin sells and in general freshen up your face. It seems like a small insignificant step but it really does help your skin and honestly makes it feel so relaxed and fresh-faced after applying.

3) Face Wash – Generally the most simple step, the one I’ve been doing pretty much all my life. Just washing your face. I must’ve tried hundreds of face washes. Sometimes they’ve worked for me for a long time and then betrayed me and made me break out after several uses and other times they’ve just downright not worked at all. Over the years the best products I’ve used include The Simple Kind To Skin Moisturizing Facial Wash and the Clean & Clear Exfoliating Daily Wash, which were both really simple but great products that helped out my skin. Due to the fact I have oily skin I tend to avoid oil based face washes. The one I’m currently using which I love not just for how amazing it is but for the amazing smell is the Neutrogena Oil-Free Visibly Clear Pink Grape Fruit Facial Cleanser. I use this just by smothering it on my face, where it foams ups and then washing it off with water. Every time it just leaves my skin feeling soft and re hydrated and clean. It works wonders on acne and spots and ever since I’ve hardly been getting any sort of skin problems. Again always try to find out your skin type, as someone with oily skin oil-free face washes work best for me but find what works best for you and use that.

4) Serum – Next up an important product I use both in my morning skincare routine and my evening skincare routine are serums. Now in the morning I use the Superdrug Clearly Youthful Booster Serum which is a very relaxing, soft, hydrating serum and at night I use The Body Shop Seaweed Clarifying Night Treatment. The night treatments formula is very different to the booster serum but works just as well, and again is very relaxing and hydrating. Serums are probably the best product you can use to combat anti-aging. They’re not as creamy at moisturizers, but their job isn’t to hydrate your skin but rather pack in a bunch of beneficial ingredients that you might be missing out on. They also dig a lot deeper than moisturizers to deliver active ingredients to your skin. It’s a small but important part of my skin care routine and I really do notice a difference in my skin when I use my serums vs when I don’t.

5) Eye Cream – Applying an eye cream is another important step in my everyday routine. I use The Body Shop Vitamin E Eyes Cube. It works a lot differently than normal ice cream in that it’s literally a solid stick of cream that you rub on your face. I admit at first I was a little bit perplexed by the concept but any doubt was quickly thrown out the window when I actually used the product because it is amazing. It is so soft and cooling and makes me skin feels so refreshed and dehydrated. The area around our eyes is thinner and much more delicate in structure than other parts of our face, hence why eyes are usually the first area to welcome wrinkles. I didn’t find this out until a few months ago, but since using an eye cream (or rather eye cube) I have noticed a huge difference in the area around my eyes and also the fact I rarely get dark circles under my eyes anymore. So I guess have to thank this little cube of heaven for helping me not only get rid of my dark circles but for saving me money on concealer.

6) Moisturizer – One of the last steps and actually one of the most important steps if moisturizing. When your skin is dry it creates oil to make up for the lake of moisture which in return gets into your pores and gives you spots and bad skin. When wash our skin we are stripping it of moisture, so we need to restore that moisture by applying a moisturizer. Now I use two different moisturizer, one is just a general P.S. love your sin moisturizer which I use if I’m traveling and if I ever need to freshen my skin up throughout the day. For the morning and evening I use The body Shop Vitamin E Moisture Cream, which is honestly a little tub of heaven. It’s so cool and moisturizing and a little goes a long way. I would highly recommend.

7) Lip Care – The last step is kind of an extra step – lip care. I use one of the lush lip scrubs on my lips every morning before I start doing my makeup. I have two lip scrubs from lush, the bubble gum one and Santa’s lip scrub. I prefer the bubble gum one, because Santa’s lip scrub is quite a thick consistency where as the bubblegum one is a lot looser and easier to use. So just a little application of these each morning leaves my lips feeling soft and relaxed. Alongside my lip scrub I apply a lip balm every day and every night, my favourite to apply is the Coconut Lip butter which is just the creamiest softest lip butter ever. I apply this right after I’ve licked off the lip scrub but before I do my makeup.

So in general my skincare routine consists of:

  1. Neutrogena Oil-Free Visibly Clear Pink Grape Fruit Facial Cleanser
  2. Superdrug Clearly Youthful Booster Serum
  3. The body Shop Vitamin E Moisture Cream
  4. The Body Shop Vitamin E Eyes Cube
  5. Bubble Gum Lip Scrub
  6. Coconut Lip Butter

  1. Camomile Silky Cleaning Oil
  2. The Body Shop Seaweed Clarifying Toner
  3. Neutrogena Oil-Free Visibly Clear Pink Grape Fruit Facial Cleanser
  4. The Body Shop Seaweed Clarifying Night Treatment
  5. The Body Shop Vitamin E Moisture Cream
  6. The Body Shop Vitamin E Eyes Cube
  7. Bubble Gum Lip Scrub

Of course you don’t have to do all these steps, but I would highly recommend at least cleansing, toning and moisturizing especially if you wear makeup. As always these are just products that work for me that I use daily and you should always find out what kind of skin you have at what works for you before buying anything anyone else recommends.

Thanks for reading and I hope you have a lovely day :)

The Body Shop Frosted Plum Tin of Delights Review

I recently received this gift set from The Body Shop from a relative for Christmas. It’s from the Frosted Plum collection that only comes out at Christmas. The set comes in a giant purple stripey tin and contains four products.

The first product it contains is the Frosted Plum Shower Gel which comes in a 250ml bottle. It contains a thick purple liquid that obviously smells like plums. It also has a slight citrus scent to it, kind of like lemons. According to the bottle it’s a ‘Fruity floral fragrance with notes of ripe plum, peony and magnolia’. Now I know that it’s got peony and magnolia in it I can kind of smell the floral scents, but it’s overpowered quite a lot by the plum scent. I used this in the shower the other day and the shower gel lather’s very well and the scent lasts for ages after.

Another product that comes with this set the Frosted Plum Lip Balm. Now I’ve only ever used the coconut lip butter is the only body shop lip product I’ve used before this one but I absolutely love it. This one, in my opinion is just as good. Now I don’t normally like lip balms in tin form, as I prefer them when they’re in stick form as it’s easier to apply. This one however is an exception. I find the balm itself not as sticky as normal lip balms and a lot more held together. It’s a dark purple balm which of course, smells and tastes like plums. It’s very softening on the lips, a very creamy soft mixture and it keeps your lips tasting nice and it’s stop them from going dry. Everyone you would want from a lip balm right here.

This set also comes with a tub of Frosted Plum Body Butter. I’ve never actually ever tried a body butter from the body shop but I’ve been meaning to for years because people are always raving about how good they are. This one comes in a 200ml purple tub. The butter itself is quite thick and creamy, however it does come off quite easily when you drag your finger across the top. (almost like dragging a spoon over the top of a tub of ice cream). It has a nice soft buttery texture that makes my skin feel incredibly soft once applied to freshly washed skin. I used this the other day after showing with the frosted plum shower gel and the combination of the two made my skin feel just so incredibly soft and smooth. I definitely agree that this is one of the best body butters I have ever used.

The last item in this set is the Frosted Plum Shimmer mist. It comes in a small round clear bottle with a black lid. The thing I love most about this product is that it’s got glitter in the bottom, so when you shake the bottle it mixes together and looks like a magic potion. The scent itself is very strong and has the same floral/plum smell of all the over products. It does have a light shimmer to it, but it’s not to strong so you don’t have to worry about getting yourself covered in glitter or looking to shiny.

Overall I really liked this gift set or ‘tin of delights’ and thought all the products I received were really nice. I believe the frosted plum collection only comes out at Christmas but you can find links for some of the products individually listed here: [x]. Thanks for reading!
