Hair Care Routine

So I have long ombre brown to blonde hair that ends just below my chest. I straighten it probably 2-3 times a week, during September-June and maybe once a week in the June-August. I have a long hair care routine, which I do every Sunday. I don’t do this routine everyday, because sometimes I just need to sit and let the natural oils do their work, but this is a general outline of what I do when I do go through my everyday hair routine.

Shampoo & Conditioner – I drift between 3 different brands for shampoo and conditioner. The 3 brands I used are Soap & Glory, Tresemme and Lee Stafford. I switch between the 3 brands as I find all 3 brands good at different types. I use either Soap & Glory Glad Hair Day Shampoo & Conditioner or The Tresemme Salon Silk Shampoo & Conditioner. I find Soap & Glory makes my hair feel very soft and clean and makes it smell amazing but the Tresemme makes my hair really shiny and silky. I’ll switch been between them both, depending on how I want my hair to be that day.
On Sundays I use the Lee Stafford hair growth shampoo and conditioner. It feels really nice and soft but I do find it’s a little bit heavier on the hair and so for that reason I use it only once or sometimes twice a week. Since I use pretty much nothing but Lee Stafford products in my full hair routine I also find it helps to use the matching Shampoo & Conditioner too, just to get the full Lee Stafford experience.

Mask- I’ve used a few treatments on my hair over the years, but I find I really like this one the most. It’s the Lee Stafford hair growth Mask, for hair that never grows past a certain length. It comes in a 200ml pink tub and smells amazing. The treatment is a thick pink mixture that smells like the matching shampoo & conditioner. I use an egg size amount of my hair once a week and then leave it on for around 6 minutes and then wash it off. I’m on my third tub of this and whilst I haven’t actually seen any difference in the length, it does look a lot fully and softer and my head always feel so amazing after using this. Whilst it doesn’t make hair grow it does make it soft and it does repair damaged hair, so if you’re looking for a new treatment/hair mask, I’d recommend you try this.

Heat Protection Spray – So surprise surprise, I used another Lee Stafford product. I’m not sponsored by then or told to talk about them I just really enjoy their products. I use this protection spray every time I apply heat onto my hair, whether it be with straighteners, a curling iron or a hair dryer. It works very well and I love the smell. It’s a sweet fruity smell and it really lingers on my hair and makes it smell nice. I used this most days and it really works at keeping your hair safe from heat damage, whilst making it smell really nice and stay really shiny. I’ve tried many heat protection sprays, but always go back to this one because I love it and find it just works too well to want to even try anything else.

Purple Shampoo – Another shampoo now, this is the Purple Shampoo for bleach blondes from Lee Stafford. As I said previously I have brown to blonde ombre hair and blonde hair goes yellow after a while if you don’t take care of it. I remember watching a video by Zoella, who of course was famous for her long beautiful ombre hair (before she cut it all off) and she recommended this. Of course I had to check it out because who doesn’t want Zoella 2013/14 hair. This works beautifully, it’s soft light and silky and doesn’t really feel like a shampoo. I use this once a week, usually on a Sunday. I’ll apply a normal shampoo first, lather and rinse and then I’ll apply this before I apply any conditioner or a mask. I always shampoo my hair twice anyway, so I just skip the second round of normal shampoo and replace it with this instead. It is of course, a dark purple colour, which does look a bit freaky when putting it on, but don’t worry – it doesn’t make your hair go purple. I find this lathers really well and the silky soft texture of the formula applies to my hair, making it feel so soft and nice whilst stopping the blonde in my hair from going purple, which is the whole point of the product in the first place.

Treatment – I don’t always use this product on my hair, it’s probably once every two weeks I use this. It’s the Lee Stafford hair growth leave in treatment. The only reason is because whilst it does smell nice and it doesn’t psychically seem to change my hair very much and because of this I often forget it or I can’t be bothered to apply it. When I do apply this I will squirt 5-6 pumps onto the ends of my hair (after washing but before drying) and then I dry my hair. It has the nice floral smell of all Lee Stafford products and whilst it does seem to make my hair softer I haven’t seem very much difference in terms of hair growth. Which is why I sometimes skip this step.

Golden Girls Oil – This will usually be the last step of my hair routine. I really love oils in general because I love the silky feel of them. This is the Golden Girls Oil, again by Lee Stafford. It works like the purple shampoo in that it keeps away the yellow hair and keeps the blonde looking natural and brassy. You can apply this to wet or dry hair, I prefer to apply it to dry hair, after straightening. I pump a small amount in my hand, rub it into my fingers and then slowly drag it through my hair. I find not only does it make my hair look really silky and shiny (but not greasy) but it also gets rid of fizz and stray hairs, meaning if you’ve naturally got Hermione Granger hair like, then this stuff is a life saver!

Thanks for reading and I hope you have a wonderful day :)

The simplest vegan banana milkshake ever

NOTE // It taste better than it looks I swear

Hey so welcome to the simplest banana milkshake recipe ever. No seriously this is so simple literally a fish could make it. I know because I had to make this up myself, because every milkshake/smoothie recipe I tried that I got from somewhere online for some reason all turned out disgusting. I can’t tell if I have really stubborn taste buds or I’m just a really bad cook but this is the only smoothie/milkshake thing I’ve ever made that’s actually worked out for me.
You only need three ingredients:

  1.  One banana
  2.  3 -4 ice cubes
  3.  1 and 1/2 cup of plant-based milk of your choice (I used sweetened soy milk)

Simple cut up 1 banana and put it inside your blender, along with 3-4 ice cubes and some soy milk. I generally keep adding the soy milk until it covers both the ice and banana, which is generally around 1 and a half cup worth of soy milk.
Then you just blend until smooth and serve! It’s so delicious and smooth and a great way to start the day. I drink this before a workout, and I find it’s a great way to get in energy if you’re not always up to eating first thing in the morning.

Let me know if you try this ‘recipe’ as I’d love to hear if you like it just as much as I do.

Thanks for reading and I hope you have a wonderful day!

A blogging predicament

Before you read this you should know this is a little rant/open discussion about wordpress and my little predicament with wordpress and their services. I’m posting this because it’s been bothering me for a while, people in real life haven’t be very helpful in helping me solve my predicament and honestly I think the opinion of another blogger may help out when deciding what to do.

So let’s start of at the start of everything. I think my theme is boring. Don’t get me wrong, I love the theme, it’s cute and elegant. But I’ve had it for over a year now, and I’m just bored of it. Okay so simple solution, get a new theme right? The thing is with wordpress, you can only use their themes under a wordpress domain. And there’s no way to code these themes or add in your own one. I’ve had 3 wordpress themes and I liked those themes. But the only themes I liked. I have scrolled through all of WordPress’s free themes and I just don’t like any of them. Plus they’re not that customizable. You can the header font and background image, but that’s it. On most you can’t even set your own custom colour palette. The title of my blog is in blue writing, despite the fact it doesn’t match anything else on my blog, simply because I can’t change it.

I decided to look on another site, and found a few really cute ones. They were fully customizable, and were specfically designed for each person. These themes also cost £40 each. Now I wasn’t actually that bothered by this price. Sure, cheaper would’ve been nicer, but from the amazing designs and feedback the site was getting I felt it was worth it. Plus this £40 would buy me something that will last forever. That was a price I was willing to pay.

Because you can’t custom code themes on a wordpress domain I decided to purchase an independent URL, which costs around £19 for a year I believe. I was planning to this eventually, and as it was only £19 for a whole year I thought, why not? £59 in total and I’m good with a fancy schmancy blog and independent URL until the end of 2017. And then at the end of the year if I didn’t want to pay to keep my URL the next year, I could just go back to the free URL and keep my theme.

This is where the problems started.

Turns out you can’t use a custom domain, or use a custom theme on a free account. You have to purchase one of the 3 upgraded accounts, the cheapest of which is $2.99 (about £2.25) a month. I hate paying for things monthly, because as I’m a student, I only get a set amount of money at set times throughout the year, which means I can sometimes go up to 3 months with no money in my account. So I can’t really pay for anything monthly. It would cost me £25 a year for the free account, plus it would cost £19 for the custom domain name, meaning I would have to pay £44 per year, plus £40 for the theme would cost £84. Way more to pay for a hobby that I make no money from.

I wouldn’t really use the upgraded accounts, as a lot of stuff available doesn’t interest me. This is honestly not the first time I’ve been annoying with WordPress. The have hundreds of widgets available for free to download, yet you can’t install them with a free account. This, on top of the no coding and little to no theme customization has made me really annoyed with WordPress. Not to mention the fact they changed the theme I use randomly and gave me no option to change it back.

Pipdig, the site I was going to purchase my theme from, offers to migrate blogs over to SiteGround for free when you purchase a self hosting package from them. Their packages cost £2.75 a month, so £33 per year. But you can pay it all at once at the beginning of year, instead of monthly. So £33 vs £44 a year, obviously SiteGround is the better option.

But if I move to SiteGround I loose all my followers who follow me on WordPress. Which since I don’t have email followers turned on is, all of them. Now I’m not one of those people who gains followers really quickly. I believe followers should be earned through content, not from following people who follow back. So if I were to move my blog to SiteGround I’d be essentially starting everything again.

So I can either go for option one and pay £84 for the first year and £44 every year after that, go for option two and pay £73 for the first year and then £33 every year after that (but loose all my followers) or go for option 3 and stay with my shitty free theme and wordpress domain name.

I don’t really know why I’m writing this, I think I’m just frustrated and annoyed and maybe writing out my problems may help me figure out what I’m going to do. I may delete this.

If anyone has any advice or ideas, comment below, because I am really confused what do.

The Body Shop Seaweed Night Treatment Review

I picked up this Night Treatment a few months ago as I’d decided to throw away my old night serum because I didn’t like it. It was too tight on my skin and made it feel dry and just rough and gross. This was the first night serum I’d ever used however so I was kinda worried serums were supposed to make your skin dry and tight, in which case I knew they definitely weren’t for me.

I adore The Body Shop, all their products are amazing and I always head straight to them when it comes to skin care. So when I tossed my old serum into the trash I replaced it with the Seaweed Clarifying Night Treatment. It comes in a small 30ml bottle with bright blue labels whereas the serum itself is a murky white colour but comes out clear. Now the bottle obviously isn’t the prettiest thing, but you should never buy a product just because of the pretty packaging. (Although I’ll admit I have, hello candles). I’ve tried the toner in the TBS Seaweed range before I love it and use it almost daily so I thought its sister product had to be good.

The serum itself is very light weight and silky. It almost feels like an oil, but thicker but not quite as thick as a moisturizer. I apply this most nights after applying cleanser and toner. I apply it with my fingers and generally do 4-5 pumps at a time, one for each cheek, one for my nose/eyes area, one for my forehead and one for around my chin/neck area. Now that may seem like a lot to you but the pumps give out very little serum each time, so I do quite a lot of pumps in an attempt to completely cover my face.

This serum feels so nice and smooth on my face. It isn’t dry or tight and makes my feel soft and loved. It does, a while after use make my skin feel a little sticky, but of course that goes away once moisturizer is applied. I’ve always had quite clear skin so I can’t say I’ve witnessed a psychical difference in whether it helps with acne or not. It has made my skin feel softer and smoother however and I always notice a difference when I don’t use this vs when I used it in the morning.

I always want to just note I’ve been using this for over a year now and the bottle isn’t even half empty. And I use 5 pumps of this at a time, at least 4 nights a week. And for £13.00 that’s not a bad price in my opinion.

Thanks for reading and I hope you have a wonderful day <3

Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children Review

PSA // Spoilers below for Miss Peregrine’s home for Peculiar Children

So I’ve had this book since November 2015 I believe, along with around 7 other books. Together they were all shoved on my book shelf and mentally added to my never ending ‘to read list’. I was going to take this one to LA with me as my in flight entertainment, but as I found out the movie would be released before that, I had no choice but to read it first so I could escape all the spoilers which I’m sure non book/movie will love to shout about.

I went into this book almost completely blind. I had read the blurb of course and I was aware Tim Burton was making a movie based on this novel but apart from that I knew nothing. I was really intrigued but the appearance of his book, because the cover as well as around 50 pages inside contain creepy looking pictures. What I found even more interesting as that they’re all real pictures from the past, not artists sketches, models or special effects. If you know me you know I love anything creepy or scary and I love ghosts, so that is was attracted to me to this story almost straight away.

I was expecting this to be horror or at least scary. It’s more of a mystery, drama/fantasy novel, which although it wasn’t what I expected I really didn’t mind at all. The story centers around Jacob, a teenage boy who is thrown into a world of mystery and monsters when his grandfather mysteriously dies. Jacob ends up going to try and find out what happened to his grandfather during the war and ends up finding a portal that sends him back in time to when his grandfather left the mysterious children’s home he always talked about. Jacob meets and befriends the peculiar children his grandfather was once friends with and later in the book he learns he may be the only one who can save them.

I really really enjoyed this book. Fantasy/Drama is generally the genre I read most. I usually know a lot about books before I go into reading them, so I think going into this blind really made it more interesting. I did like Jacob and found him to be an entertaining main character, which doesn’t actually happen often. The side characters I found a little confusing, because their was so many of them and I kept getting them mixed up. I didn’t really have a favourite character, I did like Emma but she annoyed at times. I am partial however to Olive and Fiona, because I thought their powers were really cool.

I thought the book was a major page turner in the begging, became really good in the middle but then slowed down at the end. I struggled to get through the last few pages or the ‘battle’ scene if you will, although I often get bored with battle scenes when reading so I’ll assume that’s just me. I have since watched the trailer for the film version, starring Eva Green and Tim Burton, both whom I love. I’ll admit it does look a lot different to the book and the fact they’ve switched Oliver and Emma’s powers is a bit annoying and may mess up the plot a bit. But I’ll still be seeing the movie regardless because hey it’s Tim Burton.

So overall I really enjoyed this book and I’d definitely recommend it if you like fantasy/mystery books. I’m aware this book has two sequels and I have purchased the first already and I intend to read and review it in the coming months. Although I have two other books to read before that so it’ll be awhile.

Thanks for reading and I hope you have a wonderful day!

Into the woods (again)

If you haven’t read my last post ‘Into the Woods’ then you’ll know this day started out perfect. Me and my friends went on a woodland adventure and then sat on top of a hill (the highest in my county apparently). We chilled out and relaxed for about an hour before me and my friend J got bored and decided to venture into the woods (again).

We found a nearby field which was empty. So we trekked through the field, hung out and took some pictures.

IMG_0526 IMG_0527

There was a leafless tree in the field, which I thought looked very creepy. Although there was no fresh corn in the field their was a load of dead corn around the edge which I thought looked really cool. And no we weren’t trespassing, there was a public foot path going around the field, so we just followed that.

Then we got lost.

We exited the field and after walking through the wood for a little while we found ourselves in a small remote town. We followed this town along for what seemed like miles and neither of us recognized any of it. I had to mention we had no phones as both of ours died, so there was no way we could call someone or look on a map.  We had no water either and as this was one of the hottest days of the year it was not a good time to go without water. We decided to try to find the radio tower, as I knew the way to a shop from there and then at least we could drink. Eventually we had to sit down and rest, we were extremely both thirsty but had nothing to drink. Whilst sitting down we noticed a horse with it’s eyes covered staring at us. We weren’t sure what it wanted but as we didn’t know which direction to go in we asked this horse, he indicated right with his head and we went that way. Of course asking an animal for directions in never a good idea, but we were lost and hey what choice did we really have?

IMG_0533After following the horses direction we found ourselves on a long never-ending road that was surrounded by trees. This meant we had to play what me and my friend refer to as ‘the car game’. This meant that because there was no path on the side of the road we had to walk next to the curb and then when a car came you’d shout out ‘Car’ and dive into the trees. After exiting the road, we entered more fores  and then after exiting that we ended up in another village, this one full of big old gated houses. We hit dead ends 3 times in this village as their were so many cul de sacs. There were a lot of cars in this village, although me and my friend couldn’t work out how they actually got into the village because there were no roads leading out of it and the grass surrounding it was untouched and was so perfect it had clearly not been driven on.

IMG_0531We left the village and walked back on ourselves until we got to a crossroad we had previously reached and went in the other direction, which led again into the forest. Although once we got through that bit of forest we found the radio tower! Yay! Not long after this we found a harvester, where we sat down and had a drink. It seems like such a short of time when typed out, but really we were lost inside the forest for about 3 hours. It wasn’t fun. It took us around an hour and a half to get from the harvester to the train station and then 20 minutes to get from there to get home. It was a long journey, all in all we were out for around 8 hours and we were lost for 3 of that. It was a long journey, we were hot, dehydrated and tired and we only got through it by singing ever wood related song we could find (The Into The Woods soundtrack, out of the woods by Taylor Swift plus lots of the Lions & Tigers & Bears song from The Wizard of Oz).

Thanks for reading and I hope you have a wonderful day!

Into the Woods

So I live near quite a large wood area. I used to love going on long forest walks when I was young but didn’t for many years. Last week I took my friends who leave near the sea along with me, as we wanted to do something different and they’d never been into the woods before. We thought we had walked around it all, until I got home and worked out via google maps that we had actually walked round less than 1/4 of the whole thing. So on Sunday we decided to go on another adventure, this time with intentions to start at the end of the forest and make our way back to the start (where we entered the forest last week). Whilst we did this, thing’s also didn’t go quite according to plan.

First we went to Asda and brought some food and then started the trek towards the woods. It took an hour to get there and as it was boiling hot we were all tired when we got there and decided to rest. It was such a nice clear day though, which was nice as in the UK we only get about 3 weeks of summer a year, and even then it still rains.

We then found this really old building that’s been around since the 1920’s. Most of it has been destroyed by now, but it was originally small building that encompassed a well. This was apparently ‘well #5’ but the only one still standing, as the trees grew around the others and they were slowly killed by the roots. I love the idea that the wells are still out there somewhere but no ones really sure where. We sat down just outside here to eat our lunch and take some pictures:

IMG_0484 IMG_0494

IMG_0477 IMG_0485

I forgot to mention we had to jump over a small river to get to this well, luckily someone had made a little bridge out of sticks so that made it easier to get across the water but it was still hard to get up and down the bank either side without falling into the water (you can’t actually see any of the water in the picture below but it was there, I swear I’m not lying) I brought some sushi, some popcorn and a trek bar with me for lunch (typical me brings sushi to eat in a forest), my friend Tash and her friend ate pasta and my friend J ate around 4 packs of those weird mini sausages things. We also all had sticky toffee muffins, brought by Tash and I think they were one of the best things I’ve ever tasted.

After lunch we continued our walk. After about 30 minutes of walking we found a horse. There was training or a horse show or something going on in a nearby field and this horse was for some reason closed off from everyone else. We weren’t sure why he was there but we joked he was in time out from the show because he’d been bad. We named him Charlie.

IMG_0505 IMG_0508

He turned out to be very naughty as he tried to steal my friends pasta and then tried to eat my other friends hair. Still we stayed with him for a little while, gave him a stroke and took some pictures. Don’t worry, we didn’t cross the gate or give him anything to eat. We kept on traveling through the woods. We saw a lot of trees and lots of pretty nature. We found a bit of old building with  LW <3 GK 1920 carved into it. Not sure if this was a mistake or joke or what exactly was going on with the date but if it’s a real carving from 1920, I hope that couple are still going strong. Go you LW + GK. Hope you’re doing well!

IMG_0498 IMG_0502

IMG_0492 IMG_0481

IMG_0489 IMG_0490

We then left the woods and went up this giant hill to sit down and relax. It’s currently boiling hot here at the moment so we were sweating by the time we got to the top of the hill. We had a lovely view from the hill, we could see the sea on the horizon as we sat down under a tree and relaxed. Well when I say relaxed I mean we sat panting because the trek up the hill almost killed us.

We chilled out on the hill and relaxed for a while. We were boiling hot and knackered from the walk up the hill. At this point we’d been out for around 4 hours. After about an hour of relaxing me and my friend J decided we were bored and thought it would be a good idea to break off from the others (who were smoking, which I don’t like being around) and go on an adventure through the remaining part of the woods.

Which is where things went a little bit wrong…

Part 2 coming soon. Thanks for reading and I hope you have a wonderful day!

Summer and The City Book Review

PSA // Spoilers below for The Carrie Diaries & Summer and the City

So if you know me you’ll know that I love The Carrie Diaries. I binged watch the TV show a year and a half ago and I think I watched two seasons in two days. I was addicted. So addicted I remember changing all my social media icons to pictures of AnnaSophia Robb and changing all my bios to KyddShaw quotes. Yeah I went major ‘omg the feels!’ fangirl mode.

I knew the series was cancelled before I’d even started it, I still wanted to watch it but I didn’t expect just how in love with the show I would become. So when it got cancelled I searched for other material. I ordered both The Carrie Diaries and Summer and the City, and stuck with reading fanfiction till they arrived to get my TCD fix. I already reviewed The Carrie Diaries a year or so ago, so I won’t be going back into that now but you can check that review out here, if you wish.

Now enough rambling, onto the actual review. The beginning felt a little dry and I wasn’t in to it very much, mostly because I was still very much in love with the world and characters from The Carrie Diaries and apart from Carrie herself  everything was different. She was in a different setting and non of the other characters from the first book were featured in and never mentioned except once or twice. I got that they needed Carrie’s life to transfer over from what we see in The Carrie Diaries to what we see in Sex and the City but I thought it was bit rushed.

However a few chapters in some old characters started to show up and things changed and got a bit better.

I have to say I’ve never seen Sex and the City (I watched both movies with my mum when I was young but I don’t remember them very well) or read the book so I can’t comment on Carrie’s character in those stories but in this story I relate to Carrie’s character a lot.
There’s just to so much about her that I can relate to. For one Carrie’s friends changing after leaving school and becoming obsessed with sex was one thing, being the last one of your friends to fall in love is another and just Carrie’s general view towards the world. her love for vintage fashion and writing is something I can relate to a lot, as well as her general grown up nature which is mistaken as ‘stuck up’ by others in the story. I also hope to one day get out my home town, I’m not sure where exactly I want to go but I know I don’t want to stay here, and Carrie spends a lot of time talking about how she loves New York and she talks about how returning to her home town made her feel like a failure. And I have to say, in a way I kind of get that feeling sometimes too, maybe not as intensely but I understand it.

There’s one short scene in particularly where Maggie is telling Carrie she’ll be staying at Ryan’s apartment:

C – “What about his fiancée?”
M – “he said he thinks she’s cheating.”
C – “So that makes it okay?”
M – “Jesus, Carrie. What’s your problem? You’re so uptight.”

It just struck me as a conversation I’ve had several times with ‘old friends’ who believe it’s okay to cheat and date multiple people at once, or have sex with any and all their guys friends. Now I really don’t have much of a problem with people having sex with whoever they went (as long as there is mutual consent of course) and I am the first to say I am 100% against slut shamming women, but when you’re in a friendship group where almost everyone has slept with everyone (apart from me of course) things tend to get awkward. That and I’ve also been looked down and even made fun of by ‘friends’ because I don’t have the same… let’s say ‘sex tendency’s’ as them.
As I was saying earlier I didn’t like how many characters were gone from the first story. Most of the characters from TCD, with the exception of Maggie and Walt were only ever mentioned, I’d say 3 or 4 times throughout the book, and only ever in a throwaway thought. Maggie, Walt, Donna LaDona, Carrie’s sisters and her Dad were the only characters from the first book to make an actual appearance in the book, with Maggie and Carrie’s Dad being the only characters to feature in more than one chapter. I was really disappointed in this as I was looking forward to seeing Maggie (before she turned into a bitch), Walt and Mouse again, and I was even slightly disappointed Sebastian and Lali weren’t in it, as even though they were awful to Carrie in the first book, I really wanted Carrie to get some revenge or at least rub her happiness in the faces. But the fact most of these characters or really any of the plot from the first book weren’t mentioned at all kind of peeved me off for I’d say the first half of the book or so.

Now ignoring what the book doesn’t have. In this book we get to meet Miranda and Samantha. Samantha annoyed me slightly at times but I like the way she looks after Carrie and let’s her live with her despite the fact they barely know each other. Miranda was also an interesting character that I was surprised I actually liked a lot. I’m almost always more drawn to more Samantha like characters and was surprised to find myself liking Miranda more than her in this book, although I can’t quite put my finger on why.
I didn’t pay much attention to Carrie’s romantic relationship’s in the book. Mostly because I was still caught up with Kyddshaw but also because I really didn’t feel much chemistry with any of the male characters. I did like the fact she ended up with Capote (or not? I wasn’t quite clear on the ending), although I again didn’t feel any chemistry around them or really like them at all until they actually got together. Although I will admit I did like the scene where he helped her out of the broken lift earlier in the book.
There isn’t really a main plot. There no quest or goal the characters are trying to reach for, it’s simply reading about Carrie’s life and everything she’s doing. But I like it. It feels like you’re just reading a mix between a gossip magazine about a celebrity and the diary of an old friend you haven’t seen in a while. I think if you’re a teen reaching out about to enter her ‘adult’ (groan) years, this is a great read.

In conclusion this book has its ups and downs, overall I did like the book, everything in it was great, but there were things missing (characters from TCD) that made the first half kind of meh for me. But overall it was a good book, not as good as the first one (which remains to be one of my favourite novels ever) but still amazing and definitely worth a read.

It may not be in my top 10 books but it’s definitely in my top 50.

Thanks for reading and I hope you have a wonderful day!

3 Current Favourites

I felt like doing a favourite post of things I’ve been really loving lately, but I wanted to change it up, so instead of writing a list of all the different things I’ve been loving I’ve just picked 3 from each category that I’m going to talk about.

Sanctuary Scrub – First for skincare I have two scrubs. The first is an orange body scrub by sanctuary. This is a very soft and silky scrub, so soft it doesn’t feel like a scrub, but it does work at getting rid of dead skin and leaves the skin feeling very soft. It smells great too, exactly like oranges and lemons.

Soap & Glory Scrub – The second Scrub is the Smoothie Star Breakfast Scrub by Soap & Glory. Now really guys this is the best smelling scrub ever. If you’re into sweet scents which I am, you’ll love this. It’s an Oat, Shea Butter and Sugar scrub and it kind of has the texture of super thick porridge, and it feels a bit weird to apply at first but once rubbing it in it feels soft and creamy and really buffs away the dead skin. This also has almonds, bananas and honey in it, all things I love and it all mixes together to produce a sweet toffee like smell. It really reminds me of the Yog Nog bath bomb by Lush and honestly thing the two products would go really well together.

Lush Massage Bar – The third skincare favourite is the Each Peach (And Two’s A Pair) Massage Bar by Lush. I get really bad back and arm pain, back pain from bending over a lot, or if I go shopping I tend to get really bad pain from that. I also tend to get arm pain whenever I lay or rest on my right arm, even if only for a few minutes. Massaging the muscles usually helps, so I picked up this massage bar in hopes it would help. And I can tell you with 100% certainty it does. If you don’t how a massage bar works, they’re basic the solid version of massage oils. When you rub it over the skin it melts which then sinks into the skin, warms up and relaxes the muscles and stops them from hurting. This one to me smells like Lemons, and apparently it’s enriched with: lime, sweet wild orange, mandarin and grapefruit, so it’s a nice cocktail of fruits that work beautifully together to give a nice sweet fruit scented bar. It really does work too, I apply it every time my arm hurt (which is most days) and not only does my arm feel better but it smells amazing too.

ENTERTAINMENT // Dirty Dancing | Once Upon a Time | American Horror Story

Dirty Dancing – I used to be obsessed with this movie when I was little (along with Grease) and I recently rewatched it and then rewatched it again right after. I don’t have to go into too much detail about what’s it about, unless you live in a cave you’ve probably heard of Dirty Dancing. But yeah I recently rewatched it and I’ve been really really enjoying it.

Once Upon a Time – Now this show has been around for a while so you may or may not have already heard of it. It’s Once Upon a Time which is a show all about fairytales and fantasy characters in a modern setting whilst still keeping the fairytale aspect. The characters tend to bounce between the human world and the enchanted forest. I’ve been watching this since season 1 but as of late I’ve been really obsessed with it. My favourite character’s are probably Regina and hook but in general I like everyone which doesn’t really happen with many TV shows. The recent plot I’ve really been enjoying and now it’s finished this season I’m kind of just counting down the days till the next season because I am literally dying without my OUAT fix.

American Horror Story – A TV show that’s not quite as happy now, American Horror Story is, as you guessed it, a horror TV show. It’s quite popular, you’ve probably heard it, it’s made by the same man who made Glee which is a little weird if I’m honest. I don’t like much horror, and by horror I mean jump scares and gore. I prefer the sort of psychological horror (I love The Woman in Black 1 & 2 and Crimson Peak). This just does horror so well and doesn’t rely on jump scare to be entertaining which I love. The plot and characters change every season and the current season if hotel, which has just been so good so far. I’ve been loving all the different characters and the storylines and cast have been amazing as always. Like I said before, I’m not really big on horror but I really enjoyed this.

Revolution Beyond Flawless Palette – First n my favourites for cosmetics is the Beyond Flawless Palette by Revolution. This a huge palette that comes with 27 shimmery shades and 5 matte. This palette mostly has neturals colours, lots of beige, cream and brown shades with some grey shades thrown in. I’ve been using this a lot lately and I’ve just found there are so many different looks and styles I can make with this. It has so many beautiful colours that blend perfectly together. The staying power isn’t that great on its own, but over a primer it’s amazing and leaves my eye lids looking bright, pigmented and perfect.

Tanya Burr Eyebrow Palette – My second favourite in cosmetics is the Tanya Burr eyebrow palette I never really did anything to my brows until recently when I picked up this. It’s your standard eyebrow palette with 3 matte brown shades and one white shimmery highlighter but I love it. I’ve been mostly using the second darkest shade, chestnut for my brows and then I’ve been using the highlighter fairy cake just under the brow as a highlighter. I find this product gives a very nice natural eyebrow look and I just adore it. I don’t think I’ll be using another brow product for quite a while.

Barry M Dazzle Dusts – I’ve had these for a good few years now but I only just recently started using them again. They’re just small dusty little pots of glitter. I have 6, one blue, pink, purple, bronze, gold and white unfortunately none of the colours have names and I can’t find their names on the site. I’ve been using these lately by just applying a little on top of my eye shadow using my finger. I generally use and the gold and bronze colour ones the most and apply them over my base eye shadow. I sometimes apply the gold glitter over some of the Maybeline 34 hour Colour Tattoo in On and On The Bronze and blend it together with my brush and it gives a nice subtle bronzey-gold look. Other times I also add the tiniest bit of bronze glitter over the top of some of the colours from my naked palette to add a little bit of shimmer to my look. Whatever I decide to do these are just so nice and shimmery and helpful and I adore them.

Tesco Free From Cheese Spread – My first favourite is the Tesco Free From Cheese Spread. It’s basically just cheese spread that not made from milk. I love cheese spread on toast and cheese spread sandwiches but dairy makes me feel sick if I have too much of it at a time so I love this as an alternative. I’ve been eating this a lot and whilst the texture is a lot different to normal cheese spread it tastes just as good and I really love it.

Homemade Banana Milkshake – My second favourite food item is a drink. It’s homemade banana milkshake, which is made by just putting a banana, soya milk and ice in a blender and blending until smooth. It’s such a simple recipe but I’ve been drinking one of these every morning before working out and before breakfast and I just feel like it’s the perfect drink to start the day with. I’m not much of a smoothie person but I live for milkshakes. Like I said before I tend to avoid dairy at the best of times so these are not only easy to make but a great replacement if you can’t or don’t drink dairy but still want the delicious taste of a banana milkshake.

Linda McCartney ‘Pulled Pork’ Burgers – Last of I’ve really been loving these ‘Pulled Pork’ burgers by Linda McCartney. Obviously I don’t eat meat so these are fake. From what I remember of pulled pork though these are extremely close. I really really love these. These in a bun with a bit of mayo and some sweet potato chips is she just heaven. It taste so good. I would literally eat these everyday if I could because they’re just so juicy, sticky and yummy. If you’re a vegetarian you should try these asap because they are so so good.

Superdrug Vitamin E Gentle Oatmeal Exfoliator

Scrub 1

LINK // Vitamin E Gentle Oatmeal Exfoliator | Superdrug | £2.99

So I recently learned I needed to Exfoliate weekly. I’d never really been sure what exfoliating was until someone told me scrubbing your face with a gentle scrub should work. Exfoliators remove dead skin and leave your face feeling fresh and clean. I picked up this one from Superdrug for £2.99. The bottle says it’s an oatmeal exfoliator (porridge exfoliator if you’re British like me) and it really does have the texture, smell and feel of oatmeal. At first I was a little bit, freaked out about rubbing an oatmeal like mixture on my face, as I thought it would kinda feel like you’d just missed your mouth a hundred times whilst eating breakfast. And whilst yes it does feel like you’re rubbing cold porridge on your face it really helps to polish away old skin and make my face feel really sort and clean. It also smells really good and according to the bottle it’s Vegan and has the special bunny icon that tells us there’s no animal testing involved.

My only problem is the texture which really does feel like cold porridge but really that’s me being picky than an actual fault with the product. Apart from that this product is a solid 9/10!

Thanks for reading and I hope you have a wonderful day.
