Eden’s Semilla Vitamin E Oil Review

So as of late I’ve been really interested in using more natural products on my skin. After finding out the facial scrub I use is unfortunately tested on animals I decided to branch out and to try and find to find a more natural and of course cruelty free scrub. Whilst searching I was thrown into the world of oils. It turns out there’s a lot of different oils in the world, Lavender, Coconut, Argan, Sunflower, Rose, Raspberry, Almond. Even Cucumber. It all seemed very confusing so I picked a few different ones and tried them out and I intend to review each one in upcoming posts. Whilst I was in my search Eden’s Semilla were generous enough to send me a bottle of their Eden’s Semilla Vitamin E Oil in return for a review. Of course I said yes, how could I not? I’m going through a big oil craze and a lovely company offers to send me a bottle? Couldn’t have come at a better time.

First I want to say I don’t have amazon prime but I received this the morning after I placed my order. Which is just amazing because there’s nothing worse than having to wait around for an amazon order. My first thing I noticed about this product before I had even tried it, was how little packaging it came with. I received a small box, containing the oil and a plastic bag with the dropper inside and this was the only packaging. I love it when companies have very minimal packaging, as lots of complicated ties, boxes and bags are bad for the environment, unnecessarily and just not good in general. The box the oil comes in is yellow with white and gold font and has a small picture on the front showing all the different ingredients involved in the product.

My first impression of the oil itself is that I really hate the smell. But you never judge a product but it’s smell, as someone amazing products smell terrible and some awful products smell fantastic. Saying that the product itself doesn’t feel like oil, it’s so light weight and silky it basically feels like water. I applied this on my face morning and night for two weeks and compared to other oils I’ve used in the past, it doesn’t feel thick or suffocating. It takes a while to set but when it finally does your skin feels very soft and smooth. After two weeks of daily use I will say my skin does feel a lot more hydrated and moisturised. Because I have very dry skin it’s rare my face feels hydrated, so if you’ve got dry skin and find it hard to get moisture on your face like me, you’re really going to want to check this out.

I’m pleased to say this product contains 100% natural ingredients and has the leaping bunny certificate, so we know no bunnies died to make this. The ingredients are: 100% naturally sourced Vitamin E (Safflower / Wheatgerm / Sunflower / Sweet Almond / Apricot / Avocado) Organic Jojoba and Rosehip Oil. Let’s take a look at these ingredients in detail:

  • Rosehip oil – Is full of vitamins and antioxidants, is good for getting rid of dark spots, reducing redness, scars and being hydrating for dry and/or itchy skin.
  • Organic Jojoba – Is the only oil that resembles our natural oils, works as a natural moisturizer and combats facial scarring and facial lines.
  • Safflower oil – Acts as a natural lubricant that prevents water from leaving your skin and locks in moisture for glowing fresh, soft skin.
  • Wheatgerm oil – Improves circulation to the skin and the hair, helps hydrate dry or itchy skin.
  • Sunflower oil –  Improves skin health, regenerates cells, reduces scars and gives the skin a healthy glow.
  • Sweet Almond oil – Protects against UV radiation damage, cleans pores, softens skin and battles dark circles.
  • Apricot oil – Is anti-aging, soothes irritated skin and works as a natural moisturizer.
  • Avocado oil – Prevents inflammations, redness and itchiness, is an affect treatment for acne and blackheads.  Is beneficial in diminishing age spots and smoothing out fine lines and wrinkles.

All great natural ingredients that have amazing benefits for the skin.

If you’re new to oils, I’d say start with coconut oil or argan oil for you hair and Vitamin E oil for your skin. I’ve use all three and all three are amazing. I’m going to keep using this Vitamin E oil as it’s making my skin feel so nice and will probably continue to purchase more natural oils in the future.

Thanks for reading and I hope you have a wonderful day!

The Body Shop Seaweed Night Treatment Review

Serum

LINKS // SEAWEED NIGHT TREATMENT | 30ML | £13.00 | THE BODY SHOP

I picked up this Night Treatment a few months ago as I’d decided to throw away my old night serum because I didn’t like it. It was too tight on my skin and made it feel dry and just rough and gross. This was the first night serum I’d ever used however so I was kinda worried serums were supposed to make your skin dry and tight, in which case I knew they definitely weren’t for me.

I adore The Body Shop, all their products are amazing and I always head straight to them when it comes to skin care. So when I tossed my old serum into the trash I replaced it with the Seaweed Clarifying Night Treatment. It comes in a small 30ml bottle with bright blue labels whereas the serum itself is a murky white colour but comes out clear. Now the bottle obviously isn’t the prettiest thing, but you should never buy a product just because of the pretty packaging. (Although I’ll admit I have, hello candles). I’ve tried the toner in the TBS Seaweed range before I love it and use it almost daily so I thought its sister product had to be good.

The serum itself is very light weight and silky. It almost feels like an oil, but thicker but not quite as thick as a moisturizer. I apply this most nights after applying cleanser and toner. I apply it with my fingers and generally do 4-5 pumps at a time, one for each cheek, one for my nose/eyes area, one for my forehead and one for around my chin/neck area. Now that may seem like a lot to you but the pumps give out very little serum each time, so I do quite a lot of pumps in an attempt to completely cover my face.

This serum feels so nice and smooth on my face. It isn’t dry or tight and makes my feel soft and loved. It does, a while after use make my skin feel a little sticky, but of course that goes away once moisturizer is applied. I’ve always had quite clear skin so I can’t say I’ve witnessed a psychical difference in whether it helps with acne or not. It has made my skin feel softer and smoother however and I always notice a difference when I don’t use this vs when I used it in the morning.

I always want to just note I’ve been using this for over a year now and the bottle isn’t even half empty. And I use 5 pumps of this at a time, at least 4 nights a week. And for £13.00 that’s not a bad price in my opinion.

Thanks for reading and I hope you have a wonderful day <3

The Body Shop Strawberry Treats Cube Gift Set Review

DSCF2776DSCF2764DSCF2767DSCF2770DSCF2765

I received this cute little ‘Strawberry treats’ gift set for Christmas and thought I would post a little review. This is just a simple little cute gift set. I received this for Christmas and I believe it’s a season exclusive as I can no longer find the product in the online store, but from searching I can see this was around 10 pounds.

Anyway this product is simply just a little red and white stripey box which contains one of those red bath scrunchie things (not sure what they’re actually called, but hopefully you know what I mean) and two bottles. One contains Strawberry shower gel which is a thick red gel that smells exactly like strawberry lace sweets and the other is Strawberry body puree which smells like strawberries and cream.

I’ve been using these products a lot and I absolutely adore them. The shower gel lather’s so well and smells so good, exactly like strawberry laces which really makes me want to eat it. The body puree is so soft and creamy and makes my skin feel amazing whilst making me smell amazing. The bottles are of course quite small which is the only downside to this product as apart from that they are amazing. I would definitely recommend them.

Basic guide to Skin Care + My current skin care routine

3e2aa83dc58cec6a7779c5ce45417973So I am no way at all an expert in skin care, but I happen to have quite clear skin. I get spots like everyone, but they’re usually small and don’t last very long. I used to get a lot of spots, but since taking care of my skin more it’s totally cleared up. I’ve had friends asks how my skin is so clear and I’ve both listed out my entire skincare routine and I’ve also just shrugged and said ‘I just drink a lot of water’ (which is true). So here we go, a lovely little post on my skincare routine and my tips of skin care. (That might’ve been the worst intro I’ve ever written, I’m such a great blogger)

DSCF4184So I have two separate skincare routines, one for the morning and one for the evening. They generally stay the same with my evening routine only usually changing depending on whether I wore makeup that day or not. I generally buy most of my skincare products from the body shop because I like how helpful they are in there. They always help me get the right products for my skin type (oily) and their products are just great in general.

So the most important steps you should have in your skincare routine are cleansing, toning and moisturizing.

1) Cleanser  – So if you’ve been wearing makeup that day you want to start of with a cleanser. Now up until about a year ago I always used makeup wipes to take off my makeup but then I learned how terrible they are for your skin. Basically when you use a makeup wipe, no matter how much makeup comes off on the wipe you’re actually pushing the dirt around your face. You can have the most expensive/amazing moisturizer and serum ever but you’ll just be applying it on top of the dirt that’s already on your face. So I’ve used two cleansers, first off was the vitamin E cream cleanser which didn’t really work for me at all and then I tried the Camomile Silky Cleaning Oil. I use this oil everyday to take off my makeup and it’s honestly amazing. At first I was a little meh at putting oil on my makeup and smudging it around my face but now I’ve gotten so used to it and the oil is actually really relaxing and moisturizing. It works so quickly and efficiently and really gets every little bit of makeup up. Of course there’s hundreds of cleansers out there and it all depends on your skin type whether something will work for you or not, so I’d recommend going into the body shop or any skincare shop and asking an expert or if the thought of that makes you way too anxious you can take an online test instead.

2) Toner – After cleaning you should always use a toner. Now I didn’t know what a toner was for a really long time, simply because I didn’t know I needed one. So I cleansed and went straight to moisturizing. Only in the last 6 or so months have I been using a toner. The toner I use is the body shop seaweed clarifying toner which just works wonders for me, so much so it’s the only one I’ve ever used and so far I’ve never felt compelled to change. I apply my toner with a cotton pad, after cleansing but before washing my face and it’s helps remove all traces of makeup that may still be left, all traces of the cleanser that may still be on my face, plus a whole other load of dirt I didn’t even know was on my face. Toners help shrink the appearance of pores, remove dead skin sells and in general freshen up your face. It seems like a small insignificant step but it really does help your skin and honestly makes it feel so relaxed and fresh-faced after applying.

3) Face Wash – Generally the most simple step, the one I’ve been doing pretty much all my life. Just washing your face. I must’ve tried hundreds of face washes. Sometimes they’ve worked for me for a long time and then betrayed me and made me break out after several uses and other times they’ve just downright not worked at all. Over the years the best products I’ve used include The Simple Kind To Skin Moisturizing Facial Wash and the Clean & Clear Exfoliating Daily Wash, which were both really simple but great products that helped out my skin. Due to the fact I have oily skin I tend to avoid oil based face washes. The one I’m currently using which I love not just for how amazing it is but for the amazing smell is the Neutrogena Oil-Free Visibly Clear Pink Grape Fruit Facial Cleanser. I use this just by smothering it on my face, where it foams ups and then washing it off with water. Every time it just leaves my skin feeling soft and re hydrated and clean. It works wonders on acne and spots and ever since I’ve hardly been getting any sort of skin problems. Again always try to find out your skin type, as someone with oily skin oil-free face washes work best for me but find what works best for you and use that.

4) Serum – Next up an important product I use both in my morning skincare routine and my evening skincare routine are serums. Now in the morning I use the Superdrug Clearly Youthful Booster Serum which is a very relaxing, soft, hydrating serum and at night I use The Body Shop Seaweed Clarifying Night Treatment. The night treatments formula is very different to the booster serum but works just as well, and again is very relaxing and hydrating. Serums are probably the best product you can use to combat anti-aging. They’re not as creamy at moisturizers, but their job isn’t to hydrate your skin but rather pack in a bunch of beneficial ingredients that you might be missing out on. They also dig a lot deeper than moisturizers to deliver active ingredients to your skin. It’s a small but important part of my skin care routine and I really do notice a difference in my skin when I use my serums vs when I don’t.

5) Eye Cream – Applying an eye cream is another important step in my everyday routine. I use The Body Shop Vitamin E Eyes Cube. It works a lot differently than normal ice cream in that it’s literally a solid stick of cream that you rub on your face. I admit at first I was a little bit perplexed by the concept but any doubt was quickly thrown out the window when I actually used the product because it is amazing. It is so soft and cooling and makes me skin feels so refreshed and dehydrated. The area around our eyes is thinner and much more delicate in structure than other parts of our face, hence why eyes are usually the first area to welcome wrinkles. I didn’t find this out until a few months ago, but since using an eye cream (or rather eye cube) I have noticed a huge difference in the area around my eyes and also the fact I rarely get dark circles under my eyes anymore. So I guess have to thank this little cube of heaven for helping me not only get rid of my dark circles but for saving me money on concealer.

6) Moisturizer – One of the last steps and actually one of the most important steps if moisturizing. When your skin is dry it creates oil to make up for the lake of moisture which in return gets into your pores and gives you spots and bad skin. When wash our skin we are stripping it of moisture, so we need to restore that moisture by applying a moisturizer. Now I use two different moisturizer, one is just a general P.S. love your sin moisturizer which I use if I’m traveling and if I ever need to freshen my skin up throughout the day. For the morning and evening I use The body Shop Vitamin E Moisture Cream, which is honestly a little tub of heaven. It’s so cool and moisturizing and a little goes a long way. I would highly recommend.

7) Lip Care – The last step is kind of an extra step – lip care. I use one of the lush lip scrubs on my lips every morning before I start doing my makeup. I have two lip scrubs from lush, the bubble gum one and Santa’s lip scrub. I prefer the bubble gum one, because Santa’s lip scrub is quite a thick consistency where as the bubblegum one is a lot looser and easier to use. So just a little application of these each morning leaves my lips feeling soft and relaxed. Alongside my lip scrub I apply a lip balm every day and every night, my favourite to apply is the Coconut Lip butter which is just the creamiest softest lip butter ever. I apply this right after I’ve licked off the lip scrub but before I do my makeup.

DSCF4187

So in general my skincare routine consists of:

Morning:

  1. Neutrogena Oil-Free Visibly Clear Pink Grape Fruit Facial Cleanser
  2. Superdrug Clearly Youthful Booster Serum
  3. The body Shop Vitamin E Moisture Cream
  4. The Body Shop Vitamin E Eyes Cube
  5. Bubble Gum Lip Scrub
  6. Coconut Lip Butter

Evening:

  1. Camomile Silky Cleaning Oil
  2. The Body Shop Seaweed Clarifying Toner
  3. Neutrogena Oil-Free Visibly Clear Pink Grape Fruit Facial Cleanser
  4. The Body Shop Seaweed Clarifying Night Treatment
  5. The Body Shop Vitamin E Moisture Cream
  6. The Body Shop Vitamin E Eyes Cube
  7. Bubble Gum Lip Scrub

Of course you don’t have to do all these steps, but I would highly recommend at least cleansing, toning and moisturizing especially if you wear makeup. As always these are just products that work for me that I use daily and you should always find out what kind of skin you have at what works for you before buying anything anyone else recommends.

Thanks for reading and I hope you have a lovely day :)

The Body Shop Silky Camomile Cleansing Oil Review

Cleansing OilLink: [x]

So I really really enjoy products from the body shop, as I think they’re just all really good quality, all smell amazing and I get a lot for my money. As of the last couple of months I’ve been trying to better with taking care of my skin. Now to be honest I’m lucky enough to have extremely good skin, in that I hardly ever get spots, however that doesn’t mean I shouldn’t be taking care of it, because you know one day it’ll get old and wrinkly and I want to stall that as long as possible.

I’ve been wearing makeup since I was around 14 years old, mostly just mascara, eyeliner and lip gloss the first few years until I learned more about how to apply it properly and what products to use (I used to wear bronzer for eye shadow at some point… I don’t know why). For years I would always ut use makeup wipes. I recently learned makeup wipes aren’t really that good for the skin because you pull and stretch it when wiping which causes wrinkles. I was told using a cleanser was much better for the skin so I brought the Camomile Silky Cleansing Oil from The Body Shop.

One thing I will say about this product is that it smells amazing. It reminds me a lot, for some reason of peaches and lily’s. The product itself is a really light but runny clear oil. I use this on my face every time I take my make up off and honestly it works wonders. At first I was a little freaked out at the idea of putting a product on top of my makeup and then smudging it all over my face, but after trying it the first time I found out it’s actually not a horrible experience. The product is so soft on my skin. As I was gently rubbing it into my eye lids to get off my eye makeup I could actually feel the mascara coming off my lashes and crumbling onto my hands.

After having cleansed my whole face with it and looking like a panda I washed it off with water. My skin felt a little bit oily still after so I used my Body Shop Seaweed Clarifying Toner after which made my skin also feel really nice (review coming soon). It’s important to remove any traces of the oil off of your face to avoid making your skin more oily then it is (if you’ve got oily skin that is). I love Oil Cleansers because Oil breaks down makeup a lot easier than water does, so it works a lot better than say makeup wipes or just water.

So overall this product is just simply amazing. It feels so nice on your skin and gives really amazing results. I’ve been using makeup wipes for years and I’ve never been able to get quite all the makeup up off my lashes, but this stuff works wonders and I never wake up with panda eyes now.

Superdrug Clearly Youthful Resurfacing Day and Night Serum Review

Ribbet collageSo I needed to buy a new serum a long time ago and picked up these day and night serums from Superdrug. They were 6.99 each in store but Superdrug were doing a 2 for 1 deal and I also had saved 1 pounds worth of points on my Superdrug card so I got both for only 5.99 which is a really good deal in my opinion. These serums come in two boxes, both half pink and half white with silver writing on them. According to the boxes they ‘plump & firms. Strengthens skin’s moisture barrier to help boost elasticity’. It’s also anti-shine and anti-aging which is fantastic. The day serum (the picture on the left) comes in a small plastic white 50ml pump bottle. The night serum comes in a clear plastic 30ml bottle. I’ve been using both once everyday for around months now.

I find the day serum to be really soft and cleansing. It smells absolutely amazing and makes me skin feel so soft and hydrated. I use this after washing my face but before moisturizing and honestly if I wanted too I could skip moisturizing because these is so nice and hydrating it could double up as one. The night serum however I haven’t really liked that much. In comes with one of those lids that you squeeze to suck the liquid up and then squeeze again and to drop the liquid onto your skin. The liquid itself is a light grey liquid. I found it to be really sticky. It smells like the day serum but the texture is the complete opposite. When I apply this to my skin it feels really sticky and after my skin feels really dry and sticky. It’s not nice at all.

So whilst the day serum is a clear 10/10 the night serum is defiantly a 2/10 because it’s just a horrible sticky serum that drys out your skin. I’ll defiantly be trying something else next time.

Sanctuary Spa Covent Garden White Lily and Damask Rose Gift Set Review

Sanctuary Creams

So a while ago I got this white Lily and Damask Rose Gift Set. I got it in the sales quite a long time ago, it cost I think 8 pounds, reduced from around £15 I believe. It came with a big tub of luxury bubble bath too, which would’ve been 10 pounds on it’s own, so it was a really good deal. I may or may not be reviewing that in a separate post, since it isn’t part of this set I’ve decided to keep them seperate. Anyway this set consist of 3 products, a body lotion, a body wash and a body scrub. It comes in a beautiful tall dark pink box, decorated with flowers a soft orange bow on top. It’s big enough to fit all 3 products in so it’s quite a big box and a really pretty storage box for after you’ve used up all the products inside.

Onto the products themselves, the first one is the white lily and damask rose body wash, which comes in a clear 250ml bottle with a white lid. The liquid is light purple colour and it lathers really really well. From smelling it I can say it really does have a lily and a dusty rose sort of smell. It’s really comforting and relaxing. I find after using this the smell lingers even after washing it off which I love. The body lotion which is also white lily and damask rose is practically the same as the body wash, as it smells like lily’s and dusty roses and the smell lasts ages. Of course the lotion itself is a creamy white and it has such a nice texture to it. Again it’s a really strong smell and lasts ages, but it also makes your skin feel amazingly soft. I sometimes use this on my legs after shaving and it works wonders!

The last product is the white lily and damask rose body scrub, which comes in a tiny 50ml tube. To be honest I was a little disappointed by the quantity of this product. The first two bottles were filled to the brim with the liquids but this one was only half filled, not sure if that was a mistake or if they only give you 25mls worth in a 50ml tube but I was a bit disappointed as it’s only enough to use a few times without running out of it. The liquid itself however has a very runny consistency with very tiny black beads in it. It’s not rough like most scrubs and is very soft and gentle on the skin.

Overall I’d give this product a 8/10. Whilst the scrub was a little disappointing, I was amazed at the quality of the other products for such a cheap product, so I think it deserves a rather high score.

Review: Gorgeous by Gok Wan mini indulgence set

Products 2This giftset comes with 5 products, 2 in white bottles with gold writing and lids, 2 in bronze coloured bottles with gold writing and lids and one in a hot pink with gold writing it lids. The first item is the body wash which is a white gloopy liquid. It smells slightly of flowers mixed with soap which although sounds bad by the way I’m describing it actually smells really nice. It lathers really well too which I really like. The second product is a body lotion which is a white creamy. It’s slightly lumpy it first but it rubs into the skin quite well. It smells strongly of roses, which is quite a nice smell in my opinion. The third product is a shower scrub. It’s a clear scrub with small white foamy bits and small black beads. It smells like roses, like the others and is very soft on the skin, but is quite sticky so it’s probably good to follow this up with any sort of moisturiser or body lotion.

The fourth product is a bath essence, which is apparently a bubble bath. I’ve never used any sort of bath essence before and I have to say I was maybe a little disappointed with this. I don’t know if I’m being stupid but I was kind of expecting bubbles, and although it made the bath smell really really nice it didn’t create any sort of bubbles. Which yeah was a little disappointing. Also the liquid is very runny so don’t be an idiot and hold it downwards to smell it like I did as yes it does get everywhere. The last product which is my favourite product is the hand balm with Argan Oil. Now I’m obsessed with hand creams and I’m also obsessed with Argan Oil. I’ve only actually used it on my hair and it works amazingly on that but I’ve never had it as any sort of cream or moisturizer before. The smell is quite strong and again reminds me of roses. It doesn’t feel any different to any other hand cream either, but in a way I’m kind of glad as I was strongly hoping it wasn’t going to be oily.

Anyway thanks for reading and don’t forget to like, comment, share and follow :)

Review: Lady Gaga Black Fluid Shower Gel

Black FluidThis came in a gift set along with the Lady Gaga perfume. Now I love Lady Gaga a lot and I adore this shower gel. I was a little bit reluctant to use it at first because it’s black shower gel, which I’ve never heard of before. But as we all know Gaga loves to be different so of course it wouldn’t be a white liquid. The bottle is extremely pretty, a black square shaped bottle with a gold lid and gold writing. It smells amazing, almost exactly like the perfume and the smell lasts for ages after. The soaps bubbles that appear after washing are actually grey, which is quite cool and fun to look at. I only use this for ‘rare’ occasions, such as a party or a date (I never go on dates so it’s mostly parties) because it smells so good and if you want to impress someone I’d defiantly recommend this.

Review: St. Ives Apricot Invigorating Scrub

DSCF4733

This came in the goody bag my friend Elouise got me for my birthday. It was just a small bag full of creams and face masks and stuff and was a nice gift and I’m super happy she got me it especially since she doesn’t have a lot of money. This is the St. Ives Apricot Invigorating Scrub. It says it ‘Gently exfoliates dull surface sells to instantly reveal smooth, radiant skin’. It’s hard to catch the scent by just taking off the cap and smelling, but once you’ve got it on your face you can really smell it and yes it does smell like apricots. I used this the other day and although the scrub it’s self is a big rough on your skin it does make your face feel nice and soft after washing it off. Oh and yeah it makes your skin smell like apricots. Big bonus is that it works on all skin types, is oil free and is made of all natural ingredients.
